What I’m Loving Wednesday

Linking up with Jamie at This Kind of Love for What I’m Loving Wednesday.

I’m LOVING that I am officially a student teacher!!!! I’m starting off by teaching social studies and I teach my first lesson tomorrow!! The cool thing about that is that the two 5th grade classes are taught social studies by my teacher, so I will be doing all of my lessons twice!

I’m LOVING that next week I get to start teaching math!!!

I’m LOVING the amount of work I’m getting to do while student teaching! You may think I’m crazy, but I’m loving all the responsibility that I’m getting because that is showing my teacher how prepared I am to be a teacher!!

I’m LOVING that this weekend is a 4-day weekend!!! Yes I just said that I’m loving student teaching, but it’s been a long first week so far!! I need a little bit of a break!!

It’s ok…

I’m linking up for the very first time with Amber at Brunch With Amber for “It’s Ok Thursday”.

Its Ok Thursdays

It’s ok…

- that the end of summer is almost here because I’m excited to start student teaching!!

- that I’m nervous about student teaching! I’ll have more responsibility in the classroom that I ever had before and that kind of scares me!

- that I didn’t get to swim in my pool as much as I wish I would have due to it being down for about 2 weeks because of a hole.

- that we have to take the pool down this year so we can level it better for next year.

- that my new favorite store is the Dollar General (sorry Five Below)

- that I’m 22 and still love watching Disney movies! You’re never too old for Disney!!

Bo Bice Concert!!

Tuesday night was the Bo Bice concert. I got to the park around 8:50 am to put our chairs out to save our seats. Since this was a free concert, I thought that a lot of people would be setting their chairs up early. Well, I was wrong about that. There was only one other person there when I got there. So being the second person there, I got us front row seats!!! I knew my mom was going to love it when we got there later that evening for the concert!! And she did!! The concert was really good! It was just Bo and his guitar, no band. The one thing that bummed me out was that he didn’t sing his song “The Real Thing”. Here are some of the pictures I took…

100_4955 100_4958 100_4961 100_4963 100_4964 100_4967 100_4968 100_4972  100_4978  100_4980 100_4983 100_4987 100_4988

At one point during the concert, he was telling us how our community reminded him of his hometown of Helena, Alabama. He kind of made me change my mind a little bit of how I feel about the town. I’ve always thought it was pretty boring because there is nothing to do around here. But maybe I just need to look a little harder and actually find things to do.

After the concert was over, we were packing up our chairs and I noticed some people were standing around the stage. I figured they were probably waiting to see if Bo was coming out to sign autographs so we went over there. They said that he was coming out but wasn’t going to be doing any posed pictures, just autographs. My mom had this American Idol word search book so she had Bo sign on the page that was dedicated to him. He was surprised to see that and said “They’ll put anyone in a book”. Then I had him sign a paper that the library was giving out that told about the concert and who helped sponsor it. While he was signing, I asked him why he didn’t sing “The Real Thing”, except I was so star-struck that I said “The Real One”. He said that he was going to sing that and “Sweet Home Alabama” but then his guitar string broke!! That is such a bummer!!! He sang “Sweet Home Alabama” on Idol and it was really good!!!

Here is the picture that I took right after he signed my paper. At first I wasn’t going to take a picture because the flash on my camera is blinding, but other people were taking pictures so I decided to just take one. 100_5014

Then when my mom and I came home from the concert, I was looking on facebook and I found this picture…

MeandBo

Yup, that’s me standing in front of Bo!!! I have no idea who took this picture, but it is awesome!!!

So that’s all…that was one of my last big things of the summer. This coming Sunday my fiance and I are having an “End of the Summer” party with a bunch of our family over, so that will truly be the last hurrah of the summer!! Have a great Thursday everyone!!!

What concerts did you go to this summer???

“Tell me it’s the real thing…”

At one of the parks near me, they have had 3 different concerts this summer and they are all free. Well, the last one is this coming Tuesday and my mom and I were planning on going. Then I found out from the teacher I’m student teaching for that they are having a parents back to school night from 6-8 on the same night as the concert. I was pretty bummed!! But my mom is still going to the concert and then coming over afterwards and spending the night.

Well…I checked my email last night and my teacher emailed me saying that the open house is on Thursday!! So that means I can go to the concert on Tuesday night with my mom!!! Well, who is singing at the concert you are asking, why it’s Bo Bice, the runner-up from season 4 of American Idol!!! Now while he wasn’t one of my absolute favorites from the show, I’m still a fan and really excited to be going!!!! Normally me, my mom, and fiance go see the American Idols Live Tour every year, but this year we didn’t really care for any of the contestants. Plus, we wanted to save ourselves money by not going because we have to save for our wedding. Well it turns out, the Idol concert we would have gone to anyway, is this Tuesday, the same day of the Bo Bice concert. So I still get to go to at least one concert this year, and the best part is that it is free!!!

Now I am going to go listen to Bo’s songs from my iTunes while I go do the dishes! I will be sure to post all about the concert next Wednesday. Have a great Friday everyone!!!

4 months…

So in my last post (you can read that here) I mentioned that I’ll be graduating from college in 4 months!! 4 months?!?!?!?!? Wow!!! Where did the time go? And to be honest, I’m kind of a little scared! For the past 4 years, it’s been pretty much the same routine of going to class and studying. I’ve kind of gotten used to that and I’m sorta gonna miss it a little bit. But in about 2 weeks I’m going to start student teaching! Now is the time that I get to apply everything that I’ve learned for the past 4 years!

And then when graduation day comes on December, a new chapter of my life will begin as I start searching for a job! The teaching field is hard to get into because of all the budget cuts and teachers losing their jobs, but I’m not going to give up. If I take my house and put an hour radius around it, there has got to be so many elementary schools in that radius and at least one of them has to be hiring, right? So I’m not going to worry about not being able to find a job, because I will find one!! I keep saying that I would love to teach the lower grades like from K-3, but I’ll be certified to teach up to 6th grade, so if the only job available is 6th grade, guess what…I’m taking it!

Just thinking ahead to the future of when I have my own classroom makes me excited! I can’t wait to start teaching and touch the lives of the children in my classroom! And I can’t wait to decorate my classroom!! So I leave you with some of my favorite finds from Pinterest on how I would love to decorate my future classroom!!!

This would be really cute for the reading corner!! And I could totally see this going perfectly with a whole “Under the Sea” theme for the classroom!!

This is something that every classroom needs. And it will definitely be something I display in my future classroom!!

This is a cute idea! On the first day of school, you put these on the students’ desks so they can find their seat!!

Kudos to them…

So I just got done watching Oxygen’s new series, I’m Having Their Baby. I found out about this show through Catelynn from Teen Mom. I just have to say “Wow!” The women on that show are some of the strongest women in the world! While I do agree with adoption, I don’t think I would ever be able to do what those women have done. I shed a lot of tears just watching the show and seeing what they had to go through. It is just an amazing thing that those women are doing. They are giving couples a chance to have a family when they otherwise wouldn’t be able to do that.

The episode of I’m Having Their Baby that I watched followed the story of Jamie and Sydney. Jamie is a 27 year old mother of 3 children and the father’s of her children are not involved. Jamie knew that having a 4th child would not be good for her or her other children. Of her friends that we saw on the show, they all seemed supportive except for one. The one that didn’t support her just didn’t understand how she could choose one of her children to give away. But that wasn’t what Jamie was doing. She even said herself that it isn’t like she picked the child who got on her nerves the most and decided to give them away. She just did what was best for the child and her family.

Sydney is a 22 year old who recently graduated college. She lives in Portland, Oregon, and her plan was to move to Los Angeles to get a job in social work. But that plan changed when she unexpectedly got pregnant. The father was a friend and he didn’t want anything to do with the baby. Jamie’s story touched me more than Jamie’s because Sydney is the same age as me. She is also a recent graduate and I will be graduating in December, just 4 months away! It just makes me stop and think, “What would I do if I were in her situation?” And you know what, I said before that I don’t think I would ever be able to do what she did, but I honestly don’t know what I would do if I were actually in that situation. Whenever the topic of babies comes up and I say that I don’t want one for another 3 years or so, my fiance always says that we could have one now and he would be fine with that. But that’s just not what I want to happen. I want to graduate from college, get married, teach for at least 2 years, and then we can start a family. So if something were to happen that we would do that last step first, I don’t know how that would change the rest of my plans. I mean, I know I would still be able to graduate college since I’m only 4 months away, but what about getting married right away? Babies take money and so do weddings. So I think maybe my fiance needs to read this post and then he’ll understand why it wouldn’t be a wise decision if we had a baby any time soon.

Alright, I’ll stop rambling on now. If you haven’t seen it yet, I highly suggest watching I’m Having Their Baby on Oxygen! It will definitely make you stop and think about what you would do if you were in their shoes. Have a great Thursday everyone!!!

Beach vacation recap!

So, it’s been almost a week since I’ve posted. Last Wednesday my fiancé and I got home from the beach. We went from a Saturday to a Wednesday. And we had a great time! It was really nice to be off work for a little bit and not have to worry about things. His mom and step-dad live in a trailer right by a bay and marina! And they have a boat that we went on a couple of times! I told my fiancé that I want to get a boat someday!! Of course that won’t happen for many, many, many years because we have other things to spend our money on right now. But anyway, it was so much fun! The only thing that really stinks about the whole trip is that I got eaten alive by bugs!!! We went to Assateaque Island on the Sunday that we were there and the bugs were awful!! I’m still itching my legs like crazy!! I did get a bit of a tan which I’m surprised about. And yesterday at work one of my co-workers noticed my tan so I’m even more surprised that 4 days after getting back I still have it!

Being the picture freak I am, I took 133 pictures, so I won’t be able to share them all with you. So here some of my favorites from the trip. Oh, and I forgot to mention, we went to Bethany Beach, DE, Ocean City, MD, and Rehoboth Beach, DE. It was my first time being to Bethany and even though the boardwalk is really tiny, it was still nice!

Our first day at the beach!

Our first time on the boat!

I’m going to take one of the sunset pictures I take and get it blown up, framed, and put on a wall somewhere. These are just 3 of the pics I took of the sunset. Doesn’t it look gorgeous?

We went to Rehoboth Beach and rode some of the rides, including the ferris wheel. This was my first time on a ferris wheel on the beach. It was amazing!! I loved the view from up there!!
100_4862 100_4866 100_4882
I don’t know why we didn’t do something like this the last 2 times we went to the beach, but I think we will definitely do this every year we go now!!

Lol…the moon looked awesome so I just had to make him do this.

My fiance and his step-dad were fishing and they caught a baby shark twice! This was taken the first time they caught one. It looks like he’s feeding his finger to the shark!!

Just like with the sunset picture, I wanna frame a picture like this as well. It looks so pretty and I love how you see light from the moon on the water!!!

So that’s about it…now it’s back to working. Oh, and enjoying the pool!! The week before we went to the beach, I was in the pool every single day!! I’m going to make the most of the rest of the summer and pool! Have a great Monday everyone!!!

Did you go to the beach this summer?
What is your favorite part about the beach?

I gotta turn this thing around…

So for the past few months, I haven’t really been doing that well with Scentsy. I had a few orders in June and none in July!! Well, all of that is going to change for the month of August. Every year Scentsy throws a 3 day convention where they introduce new products, scents, and more. Another thing they announce is the incentive trip for the next year. To earn the incentive trip, you have to earn a certain number of points. And to get those points, you have to sell a certain amount of product. Last Friday, it was announced that for next year’s incentive trip, you get to pick one of 6 places!!!  The 6 places are: DC, Charlston, SC, NYC, Oahu, Hawaii, Costa Rica, and British Columbia. I am determined to earn this trip!! What I’m thinking is that if I can earn this trip, I can buy-in a spot for my fiancé on the trip, and then we can use it as our honeymoon, because the trip will be about a month after we get married. My first choice out of the places would be Costa Rica, second would be Oahu, and third would be NYC!!!

If I want to earn this trip, that means I need to get serious about selling Scentsy and Velata!!! I have 2 vendor shows lined up in September for Velata, so I’m hoping that helps me out there. But I’m going to also need to push Scentsy more and get those orders and parties!!!! I also have to build my team because this year you can’t just earn the trip based on sales alone, you have to build your team!! So no more of this, “I think I can” attitude when it comes to my Scentsy and Velata businesses. It is time for “I know I can!!!”

So if you would like to help me earn this trip, visit either my Scentsy website or my Velata website to place an order!! Also, Scentsy has just launched a new brand called Grace Adele. It is a line purses, clutches, accessories, and jewelry which all complement each other. Check out the video below to check it out!

If you have any questions about either Scentsy, Velata, or Grace Adele, you can email me your questions at IdolFan2890@gmail.com.   Have a great day everyone!!!!
