So far it looks good…

So the weather recently has been kinda icky. It’s been storming here almost every night!! So far the weather for tomorrow looks like this…

Weather for tomorrowI am hoping that it stays that way for tomorrow because my fiancé and I are going to hit the pool for the first time this summer!!!! I’m so excited to see the newly remodeled pool!! There is a waterslide and some kind of climbing wall. I’ve never heard of a climbing wall being at a pool before, but my fiancé thinks that it is something that is over the pool and then if you fall off as you are climbing, you just fall into the pool. I think he may be right but I guess we will see tomorrow.

So last night I finished the 2nd book in the Hunger Games series and decided to give the series a break for now. I’m loving the books but I just figured I would read something different. So I read a Kindle single called Recalculating by Jennifer Weiner. It was really short but it was really good, I would definitely recommend it. Now I am reading a book called A Dog Named Slugger by Leigh Brill. It is a memoir in which the author writes about her journey with cerebral palsy and getting a service dog. So far I am 30% done with the book and that was just in one sitting! I think that is the most I have gotten to read a book in one sitting!! I am loving having no classes to deal with! I’m going to make a goal for myself right now: by the time I start student teaching in the fall, I will have read a total of 20 books. So far I have read The Hunger Games, Catching Fire,  and Recalculating, so my total is at 3. Along with A Dog Named Slugger, I am also reading Fifty Shades of Grey, so when I am done with those 2 books, I will be up to 5! I will be sure to post about every book I read so I can keep track of my progress.

Yikes, I just got a tweet from my local radio station saying there is a severe thunderstorm warning until 4:45 PM and a tornado watch until 9 PM!! Now I gotta go get ready for work, catch everyone later! Leave me your comments and stay safe if you live in an area with bad weather!!

My weekend wrap up

I feel like I haven’t had the time recently to blog as much as I used to. And that’s weird cause I’m done with classes. Well, I did just work a 6 day week, so that’s probably why I’ve been so busy and away from my laptop. Remember my latest organization project, my closet and tons of clothes? Well, I did weed through my clothes and get rid of some. I can actually fit all of my shirts in my closet now. Before I get rid of them, I’d like to look through them and try to upcycle them like Jill over at Creating My Way to Success. I’ve been seeing her recent posts of how she’s been taking her children’s clothes that don’t fit anymore and making them into new clothes that will fit. She probably used a sewing machine, so if that’s the case, I won’t be able to upcycle my clothes like she did. Take a look at her blog though, she has made some great things!!!

I finally finished the book I started reading at the end of March. It was House Rules by Jodi Picoult. I definitely recommend this book!!! It was really good! I never wanted to put it down to, but as you can tell, I started it in March and it is now May, so I was forced to put it down a lot because I didn’t have much time to read. I posted a few months ago saying that I was making a goal for myself: to ready 20 books between then and the end of the year. Well, 1 down only 19 more to go!!! The next book I just started today is called Damaged and is written by Cathy Glass. It was a suggestion by my step-mom and she said it was really good. I’ll let you all know how it is then. Hopefully it won’t take me over a month to finish this one!!

My fiancé and I went to Walmart Friday night cause we needed a few things. We were over at the deli getting lunchmeat and I noticed these tiny bananas in the produce section. I had never seen them before so I had to get them!!! They are so tiny and cute!!

One last thing…I just wanted to share with you what I’m going to be making for dinner. I’m going to take ground beef and brown it. Then I’ll drain it and add a can of Bush’s Maple Cured Bacon Baked Beans (this was my fiancé's suggestion) , some cheese, and some spices. Then I’m going to put that in a pan and cover it with biscuits and bake it. I’ll be sure to let you know how it turns out! Have a great Sunday evening everyone!!

Oh wait…there is one more thing and it’s exciting!! I’m going to start doing reviews and giveaways soon and I have 3 coming up in the near future! So be sure to keep your eye out for that!!

Goals for the summer

So I'm having a bit of writer's block. I wanted to write a blog post but I didn't know what to write about. So one of my friends suggested I write about what my goals are for the summer. So that is what I'm going to do.

1. Read more books for pleasure
As I mentioned in a previous post, my goal is to read 20 books by the end of the year. I'm on my first one at the moment so I've got 19 to go! When I started this goal I figured I would have to read 2 books a month to reach my goal. At the rate I'm going, I'll be lucky if I get to read 1 book per month. So hopefully in May, when the semester is over, I can focus on reading more.

2. Get a job working with kids
I'm still going to keep my job at Sonic, but I would also like to find a summer job where I could work with kids. If I were applying for a teaching job today, I wouldn't have any real experience with kids. About a month ago I found a bunch of places near me that I could possibly work at so hopefully I will hear back from them!

3. Save more money for the wedding
As of right now, I'm only able to work 4 days out of the week and I haven't been getting that many hours since we've been kind of slow. I'm looking forward to the summer because I will be getting a lot more hours in and making a lot more in tips! My plan is to divide my tips in half everyday- half goes in my checking and half goes towards the wedding. Then my paycheck every two weeks, maybe I could divide that in half and put half in my checking and half in my regular savings, cause I'm gonna need to start saving money to pay back my college loans.

4. Get engagement pictures taken
Well, first my fiancé and I have to decide on a photographer, but once we do that I definitely want to get our engagement pictures taken. We have a little over 2 years till our wedding, but I just wanna get the pictures taken and out of the way.

5. Go to the beach
The last time I was at the beach was in '09, so I definitely want to get there this year, enough said!

6. Go to an amusement park
I haven't been to Hershey Park since ‘09, so I really want to go there this summer!! But I wouldn’t mind going somewhere else like Six Flags. My aunt and uncle gave my fiancé and I coupon book and I was looking through it the other day and saw a buy one get one admission for Six Flags. I’ll just have to find the closest one (which I think is in New Jersey) and see if one ticket for there plus the amount of gas (since it is farther than Hershey Park) is cheaper than two tickets for Hershey Park, the gas, and parking. When I was at Hershey Park last, the parking was $30!! That is ridiculous!!!

I think that about sums up my goals for the summer. If you have any suggestions for me like any fun summer dates or books to read, leave me a comment and let me know!!

Teaser Tuesdays (Apr 5)

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

  • Grab your current read
  • Open to a random page
  • Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
  • BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
  • Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

My teasers:

“So I’m headed downstairs to get something to eat when I hear a voice in the kitchen I do not recognize. This is pretty extraordinary- I’m not the only one who doesn’t have friends as a result of Jacob’s Asperger’s; I can probably count on one hand the number of people my mother has ever trusted enough to invite over.”

- p.123 “House Rules” by Jodi Picoult

PLEASE LEAVE A COMMENT with either the link to your own Teaser Tuesdays post, or share your ‘teasers’ in a comment here (if you don’t have a blog). Thanks!
