Monday Miscellany

So….did you know that when you get married, the woman has the hardest part? Changing her name!!! I had no idea that it will take at least 10 days to get a new drivers license! I thought that I would be able to go down to the DMV with my new social security card and get a new license all in the same day. But I guess not! I just got done making some phone calls to different places to find out what forms of documentation they need so I can change my name. My list includes: social security card, driver’s license, my bank, both jobs, my college loan, car insurance, and credit card. I hope I didn’t miss any.

I have a pretty easy week of subbing this week. Today I have a half day assignment in the afternoon for gym class. And the school it’s at is only K-2, so that should be really easy. Tomorrow I’m a floating sub in 3 grades for about 3 hours and 15 minutes. Then Wednesday I don’t work at either job so that will be really nice! Thursday is a split day between 1st and 2nd grades. And Friday is a full day of 5th grade.

Tomorrow I’m going to get the rest of the flowers for the wedding with my step-mom and her sister! We already got the flowers for the boutonnieres back in February but it was a bit too early and they didn’t have al of their spring flowers out yet. So I’m hoping that we can find the rest when we go tomorrow! I really want to have a bouquet like this one that I found on Pinterest. Anyone that knows me, knows that I love purple!!

Also…tomorrow night I have a Skype date with one of my bridesmaids and good friends from college!! Since college has ended, we’ve only gotten to hangout about 2 or 3 times. So it will be nice to Skype with her so we can catch up!! I’d like to start setting something up so we can hangout at least once a month, maybe twice!

That’s about all I’ve got for now. I’m gonna go do some cleaning up before I have to go to school. Have a great Monday everyone!!!

Being a substitute teacher…

is a little harder than I thought it would be. I wasn’t expecting it to be easy but I didn’t realize that there would be some really good days and some really bad days. On Friday I had my first really bad day. I was in 3 different classrooms because they were having 3 grade level meetings for 3 of the grades. The first classroom I was in was fine, no problems what-so-ever. The next room…that’s where the problems began. The students were working on a problem solving packet and were working on 2 problems with a partner. When it came time to bring them back together to go over the problems, I just couldn’t do it. They didn’t want to listen to me. I had to have a student go to the office to get someone to come help me out. I thought that helped a little and at the time I think it did, but it didn’t last long. After lunch I was still with that class for a little longer. I tried to go over a quick review for a test they were taking, but again, the students were not listening to me, no matter what I did. So eventually I just said, “Ok, back to your desks. It’s time for the test.”

On to the next classroom…I was thinking positively that my last part of the day was going to go really well. Well, I was wrong. I brought the class back from their special and attempted to do a math lesson but the students weren’t listening. I know that some people may wonder if it wasn’t the class and that it was me that wasn’t able to control them, but that is not the case. And I know I’ve only been subbing for 3 weeks now, but before Friday, I have never been with a class that acted like those 2 classes did. I know that the reason they acted that way is simply because most of the time, students act up when they have a substitute. I don’t know why students do that, but it is just the way things are in life. When I get a full-time teaching job, I am going to do everything I can to get my students to behave for a substitute like they would for me.

So, here’s to hoping that this week goes much better for me than Friday did. Tomorrow I have a full day and then the rest of the week I just have half days. Have a great week everyone!!!

Seriously, who put this in students’ heads???

Weekend Recap

So, we didn’t end up going to the pool on Saturday. It wasn’t even in the 70s!! I was so bored on Saturday!! All I ever do is stay home during the week because I don’t have anywhere to go or anyone to hangout with. I was looking forward to doing something with my fiancĂ© and actually leaving the house!! Now the next time we can go to the pool won’t be until 2 weeks from now!

Around 3:30 I headed down to my aunt’s house for her Scentsy and Velata party. It was my aunt, cousin, step-mom, and 2 of my aunt’s friends. I got one order from the party and at least 2 more are going to order by the time we close it out! So overall it was a pretty good party!

When I got home from that, I made dinner and after we ate, I was bored again! We were going to go out with one of his friends and his girlfriend, but then they ended up doing something else. I was looking forward to Saturday night because my fiancĂ© had said something about us going out in the morning, and then we ended up not going. We decided to just watch TV together and snuggle, which is something we haven’t done much of recently. Then I wanted to go to Rita’s, so we did! I had a coupon and on it it showed that they have Red Velvet Cake flavored ice. I was hoping they would have that kind, but they didn’t. So instead I got a Swedish Fish gelati and he got a Swedish Fish misto.

Then on Sunday, I worked another double shift! But this time, I got a little break in-between the 2 shifts. I worked from 8-4 and then 5:30-10. I was so tired by the end of the night and my feet were killing me! But it was all worth it in the end because I worked a total of 24 hours last week!!! That is the most I ever got in one week so I can’t wait till  next payday! I wish that my total number of hours could be closer to 30 every week now that I can work as many hours as possible, but I guess there are a bunch of other college kids that they have to divide the hours among. I’m seriously thinking of getting a second job!! Maybe I should apply to Rita’s, haha!

Now it is Monday, which means it’s time to catch up on all the housework that didn’t get done over the weekend, starting with the pile of dishes in the sink and the clean ones in the dishwasher. I don’t know why, but I get lazy on the weekend and I don’t feel like doing any cleaning! At least it’s only 2 days out of the week that I don’t clean and not the other 5! Well, I’m off to do some cleaning! How was your weekend? Leave me your comments!! And have a great Monday!

Monday…

Linking up with Miscellany Monday

1. Finals week!!! I had one final today and have 3 left to go!! This weeks is going to be a breeze! My finals are at 9 am and only take me about an hour or so, so then I have the rest of the day to do whatever! Tomorrow will be a long day though because I still have class at 5:00. I guess I’m just going to stick around campus and study for my final on Wednesday. And when I get bored with that I’m sure I’ll find other things to do.

2. Velata!! I don’t think I mentioned this before, but Velata is the new brand that Scentsy recently came out with. They are still using the idea of warmers, but instead of warming wax, you warm chocolate! That’s right, it’s going to be a fondue experience like never before! Just simply pop the chocolate pouch in the microwave, pour it into silicone dish, and get to dipping! The 25-watt light bulb keeps the chocolate at the right temperature for dipping and it doesn’t scorch it. I checked my workstation this morning and my starter kit has shipped! Maybe I’ll get it this week!!

3. Dresses…I really need to buy 1 or 2 dresses that I can wear when I go out in the field in a week. I’m tired of wearing dress pants all the time so it would be nice to wear a dress every now and then. I’ve been looking online at Walmart, Kmart, Old Navy, JCPenny, and Kohls for dresses, but I can’t seem to find any that are quite long enough. Maybe I’ll just go to one of those places sometime and see what I find in the store.

4. Pinterest! Here are some recent pins that I’ve pinned.

I have to buy this book so I can read it on my first day of student teaching in the fall!!!

I wish my fridge could look like this!!

Tissue box turned into a remote holder…I so need to do this!!

We have a stump near our garden so this would be an awesome idea!

I’m really bad at this lately…

I’ve been really bad at blogging recently. I have over a thousand blog posts I have to read in Google reader and I haven’t been posting as much as I used to. I’ve just  been really busy with Scentsy that I haven’t had the time to read any blogs, but I’m going to start reading some today.

I said I would do my next giveaway when I’ve reached 300 followers. I’m still only at 275, but I’ve decided to do my next giveaway anyway, since I’m a bit behind on them. So make sure you look for that post later today. Have a great Monday everyone!!

A room a week- end of week 2

If you remember, a few weeks ago in this post I talked about a new project I was going to take on called “a room a week”. The first week was supposed to be the dining room, but I never got around to it so I just decided to move right along with my schedule and clean the bathroom. I forgot to take some before pictures, but here are the after pictures.

 100_2450

Before the sink area got cleaned, there was a lot more stuff just sitting beside the sink, so this is definitely an improvement.

 100_2452

The cabinet above the sink was just filled with stuff and it looked like it was just thrown in there. So I straightened it up a bit and made it more organized.

But guess what…the bathroom wasn’t the only room that got organized. I was bored yesterday since I was off from work, so I thought that it would be cool to get some kind of storage thing to put beside the fish tank so we would have more storage for food. So we went to Walmart and we got a 5 shelf organizer thing (I don’t know what else to call it).

In case you forgot what the area behind the couch and by the dining room table looked like:

I am going to do everything I can in order to keep this area clean!! It seems like the place is only cleaned up when we have company over, but that is going to change starting now!!!

Here is what our food pantry used to look like, after I did my organizing project that I blogged about here.

100_1940I thought it looked pretty good and everything was easy to find. But I felt like we were running out of room. We were probably running out of room because since I’ve been couponing, we’ve been getting more food than we used to. But it’s all food we need, we’re just getting more because we can get more for less!

Here is what our food pantry looks like now.

100_2455100_2456

I just love how much room there is in the pantry now and how you can find everything easier than before!!!

So now, we are on week 3 of a room a week which is the kitchen. I don’t know that there is going to be anything to throw away or giveaway, but I know for sure that it could be organized a bit. It’s too late now, so tomorrow I will start on that and then let you know next Sunday how I did! Have a great rest of your Monday night everyone, and be sure to stop by tomorrow sometime when I will post part 2 of my vacation!!!

4th of July Weekend Recap

So since it was the 4th of July weekend, I decided to wait until now to do my recap so I could tell you about what I did today, the 4th of July!

Friday night was just a night that I got to catch up on some blogs and my fiancĂ© played a game on his computer. There wasn’t too much excitement in the place that night.

Saturday I worked all day until 4. Then, my step-mom and her sister’s grandma was down from CT so we went down to my aunt’s house for dinner. Hot dogs and hamburgers…yummy!!! After that, me, my fiancĂ©, my uncle, and 2 cousins went to Game Stop and stopped for fireworks on the way home. Then it was back to their house for game night!!

Then on Sunday I had to work yet again. I don’t know why, but the customer’s were extra annoying yesterday. They just bugged me so much!! But, at 4:00 my shift was finally over! I thought the day would never end!!! My fiancĂ© and I then went down to my dad and step-mom’s house for dinner. I love how I didn’t have to cook at all this weekend!!! After dinner we went down to my aunt’s house and did fireworks. One of my favorite parts of the night was this: so it was way past my cousins’ bedtime and the one was getting really tired cause she was in a grumpy mood. Well, she went around the side of the house so to get her back behind the house, my step-mom goes, “We found a sparkler!” We had told her that we were out of them (when really we weren’t). As soon as my step-mom said that, she goes, “Sparkler?!?!” and we heard her running back into the backyard! It was just hilarious!! She really loves sparklers!

Here is the picture we get every year of me and my fiancé holding sparklers!

Here is our first 4th of July together back in 2009 (I had to cut out my ex-best friend and her bf from the picture)

Then today, I had to work 11-8. And let me tell you, it was a really long day!!! But, I made it through and made it home in time to go see fireworks at 9:30. So now I’m at home, just relaxing. My feet are really killing me!! I’m gonna catch up on some blog posts (which I feel like I’m always doing) before going to bed so I’m all rested up for work tomorrow.

I hope everyone had a great 4th of July!!!! Have a great week!!! And don’t forget to enter my giveaway for My Lip Stuff.

A room a week- end of week 1

Well, week 1 of my “a room a week” failed. I didn’t get to clean up the dining room at all. (Check out this post if you’re not sure what I’m talking about.) But, I’m just going to continue with my schedule that I made up for myself last week so the next room is the bathroom. The sink area is cluttered with stuff so it definitely needs cleaned up a bit. I will post next Sunday to let you know how I did!! Have a great 4th of July everyone!!! My weekend recap will be posted tonight!!

Meet Me on Monday

I haven’t done this for a few weeks so I figured I’d do it this week.

Questions:
1.  Crunchy or smooth peanut butter?
2.  What is your favorite color Rose?
3.  Do you remove your shoes when you walk into your home?
4.  What is your favorite season?
5.  Approximately how many hours a day do you spend blogging?

Answers:

1. Crunch or smooth peanut butter?
I like both, but I think the smooth is the best!

2. What is your favorite color rose?

Red :)

3. Do you remove your shoes when you walk in your home?
I don’t take them off and leave them by the door, but I do take them off right after I get in because I don’t like wearing shoes when I’m at home. I also take my socks off because I can’t stand wearing socks without shoes, unless my feet are really cold.

4. What is your favorite season?
I’d have to say Spring is my favorite because it’s not too cold and not too hot.

5. Approximately how many hours a day do you spend blogging?
Umm…probably a lot, lol.

Oh, and I wanted to show you a picture of my dinner from last night and let you know how it was. In case you missed that blog, you can check it out here to find out how to make what I made.

100_1953

It was delicious!!! When I wrote about how I made it, I just said we were putting spices in it because I didn’t know what we would use. My fiancĂ© put garlic powder, whole oregano, and chili powder in it.

Also, I wanted to show you a picture of the tiny bananas I got!!

100_1956

It tastes just as delicious as a regular sized banana :)

Well, that’s all I’ve got for now. Don’t forget to join my blog hop if you haven’t already! Have a great Monday everyone!!
