Congrats Miley and Liam!!

So last week, Miley Cyrus got engaged to her boyfriend Liam Hemsworth. My local radio station asked it’s listeners on Facebook and Twitter are their thoughts on the engagement and if they think Miley is too young. I just had to post about this because like Miley, I was 19 when I got engaged. I was 19 and my fiancé was turning 19 in less than a month. So no, I don’t think Miley is too young to be engaged. I think when you are with the person you want to be with for the rest of your life, you just know. Every relationship moves at a different pace. To tell you the truth, my fiancé and I started talking about getting married about a month into the relationship. We both knew that we were meant for each other and that we wanted to spend our lives together. So then we waited until we were together for at least a year (it was about a year and 4 months to be exact) and now 3 years later, we are still together. And when we get married, we will have been together for about 4 years and 1 month.

I don’t think there should be a rule that says you have to be together for a certain amount of time or that you have to be a certain age before getting engaged. I’m not saying that 16 year olds should go out and get engaged. But if 19 year olds do, then I think that’s fine. Have a long engagement, stay with that person to make sure that you really want to be with them forever. That’s another debate, that marriage doesn’t necessarily mean ‘forever’, but I won’t go into that now. For me, marriage does mean forever. I grew up with parents who were never married and then both my parents were married at least twice. So for me, I’m getting married once and that’s it!

Engagement Pictures!!!

Yesterday I got an email from our photographer saying that our engagement pictures are finished and ready to view!!! I got that email at about 10:30 AM so I had to wait the rest of the day until my fiancé got home from work to look at them!! He is supposed to get off at 3:30 but most of the time he stays later. Well, of course yesterday had to be a day that he stayed later. I was hoping he would get home before 5:00 because that is when I had to leave to go to work. He got home at 4:45! We started looking at the pictures as soon as he got through the door!! Our photographer did a great job!!! I can’t believe how awesome they turned out!! Our engagement pictures turned out so good that I can’t wait to see how good our wedding pictures turned out!! And it’s all thanks to Jeremy Bischoff. You can check out his site here. So this was my attempt at a Twilight-inspired picture, but it turns out I got it wrong. In the meadow scene, they were facing the same way. I’ve seen this done before, I just don’t know where. Even though it isn’t like something in Twilight, I still really like this picture.

Our first kiss happened in the parking garage where we took the pictures, so we had to go there and take some pictures! Where we are at in this picture is probably really close to where we were during our first kiss. I think the spot was probably a little to the left of where we are in the picture.

What are you loving this Wednesday? 

My summer has officially begun!!!

Well, Friday was my last day of the semester and the last day I was out in the field in a 4th grade classroom. I got the pleasure of working with a great teacher and a great bunch of kids! I’m going to miss them all!!! Tomorrow is going to be kind of strange because I won’t know what to do with myself!! I do have a few things around the house I need to get done though, so I’ll probably do a little cleaning up.

This coming Thursday, the 17th, my fiancé and I are going to get our engagement pictures done!! The first thing I’m going to do tomorrow is to figure out what we are going to wear. I’m going to pick out what I’m wearing first and then find something to match it that my fiancé can wear. Then 3 days after we do that, I’m going dress shopping!!!! I’m taking my mom, step-mom, aunt, grandmother, and 2 bridesmaids!!! I’m so excited!!! I’ve been waiting for this day since before I got engaged!!!!!

So, that’s about all that’s going on with me right now. Since I don’t have class or anything anymore, I’m going to try to write more posts. Goals for the summer

So I'm having a bit of writer's block. I wanted to write a blog post but I didn't know what to write about. So one of my friends suggested I write about what my goals are for the summer. So that is what I'm going to do.

1. Read more books for pleasure
As I mentioned in a previous post, my goal is to read 20 books by the end of the year. I'm on my first one at the moment so I've got 19 to go! When I started this goal I figured I would have to read 2 books a month to reach my goal. At the rate I'm going, I'll be lucky if I get to read 1 book per month. So hopefully in May, when the semester is over, I can focus on reading more.

2. Get a job working with kids
I'm still going to keep my job at Sonic, but I would also like to find a summer job where I could work with kids. If I were applying for a teaching job today, I wouldn't have any real experience with kids. About a month ago I found a bunch of places near me that I could possibly work at so hopefully I will hear back from them!

3. Save more money for the wedding
As of right now, I'm only able to work 4 days out of the week and I haven't been getting that many hours since we've been kind of slow. I'm looking forward to the summer because I will be getting a lot more hours in and making a lot more in tips! My plan is to divide my tips in half everyday- half goes in my checking and half goes towards the wedding. Then my paycheck every two weeks, maybe I could divide that in half and put half in my checking and half in my regular savings, cause I'm gonna need to start saving money to pay back my college loans.
 
4. Get engagement pictures taken
Well, first my fiancé and I have to decide on a photographer, but once we do that I definitely want to get our engagement pictures taken. We have a little over 2 years till our wedding, but I just wanna get the pictures taken and out of the way.

5. Go to the beach
The last time I was at the beach was in '09, so I definitely want to get there this year, enough said!

6. Go to an amusement park
I haven't been to Hershey Park since ‘09, so I really want to go there this summer!! But I wouldn’t mind going somewhere else like Six Flags. My aunt and uncle gave my fiancé and I coupon book and I was looking through it the other day and saw a buy one get one admission for Six Flags. I’ll just have to find the closest one (which I think is in New Jersey) and see if one ticket for there plus the amount of gas (since it is farther than Hershey Park) is cheaper than two tickets for Hershey Park, the gas, and parking. When I was at Hershey Park last, the parking was $30!! That is ridiculous!!!
