So I’m doing some reading for a class, and my roommate and her boyfriend are watching a show on VH1. I can’t help but overhear what is going on in the show and it is bugging me so much! It’s called “You’re Cut Off!” and I guess it’s just this show about a bunch of rich girls who are living off their parents and their parents have decided to cut their money supply off. So now they have to life in a house together and live without the huge amounts of money that they are used to. This is just so annoying to watch. First they were sent to a country club and they racked up a bill of $3,000 in drinks, food, massages, etc. Then they were told that they have to work at the country club to pay off the debt. One girl tried to say “Well how much is one drink? I only had one”, when she clearly had more than that one drink. Then the girls are complaining about the dress code, they have to wear kaki pants and they want to wear shorts. They are just complaining about having to clean things. Just suck it up and do the work!!! This is what poor people have to do, so just do it for the rest of the time that you are on the show and then you can get back to your rich lifestyles. I’m very interested in what others think about this show so let me know :)
I find this show pretty amusing......I watched it last season and thought it was pretty cool how some of the girls had their eyes opened to how much things cost and how to do things. I know they are spoiled but I don't think they were ever made to do anything for themselves.....
ReplyDeleteYeah, but doesn't it kind of make you sick to watch the show? They can't do simple things that you and I do without complaining. It just bugs me that they are babied so much and can't live without the millions of dollars they are used to.
ReplyDeleteAccording to Katherine they don't get to go back to their lifestyles necessarily... at the end of the show they have to either agree to their parents new terms (job, move out etc), or go out on your own anew.
ReplyDeleteAnd Katherine and I watch that show occasionally, and while the girls are annoying and the premise does suck it is highly amusing to watch and laugh at these bitches who think they have everything but have simple life skills.. so in the end we're better off anyway. It's just funny to see that people think and behave the way they do, its rediculous. even though they're rich i would never want to be them.
Well it was funny, Mandy was saying this morning that I wouldn't want to be dropped off in Africa for a week. I said that if I had to be there for a week, I could deal with it, I wouldn't be acting like a bunch of cry babies like the girls on the show are.
ReplyDeleteBut would you really? The water in West Africa carries diseases such as Buruli Ulcer. Would you be able to tell the difference between which waters to drink? Also, there isn't much food in Africa isn't there. Would you be able to hunt for your food, and a shelter? I mean sure comparing the show to that extreme case is a bit much. But it's the point of being put into a situation you aren't accustom too. It's human nature to go on the defense and not want to change. Sure these task don't seem that bad to the everyday person. But for them it is like putting them in a whole new country. Can you blame them for acting out?
ReplyDeleteAlso, there isn't much food in Africa* Sorry, I didn't notice the grammar error.
ReplyDeleteLet's be fair. Nobody who is reading this blog, myself included, would survive for more than 24 hours in the African wilderness. Between the snakes, spiders, warlords, and other wildlife, "we dead, bitch" lol
